The team behind the largest decentralized crypto exchange (DEX) by transaction volume confirms the launch of its highly anticipated layer 1 blockchain Unichain.
In a new blog post, Uniswap Labs claims that after the successful public testing phase of the Unichain launch, the launch of a public mainnet is the next step.
The company claims that Unichain will begin its transition to mainnet on January 6, 2025.
“The next major step focuses on decentralization, which is at the heart of Unichain. Mainnet will go live with evidence of unauthorized outages on day one, allowing anyone to check channel activity. This process will begin on January 6, 2025, when Unichain Sepolia will undergo scheduled maintenance to allow evidence of unauthorized outages.
Once the security and stability of the new system has been validated, the main network will be open to everyone! Users will be able to transfer funds directly to the network and applications supporting Unichain will go live.
Rollup-Boost will go live on mainnet shortly after launch, leveraging Flashbots’ TEE-based block generator to enable rollback protection and verifiable priority ordering for transactions.

According to Uniswap Labs, the launch of an “experimental testnet” will follow the conclusion of the public mainnet phase.
“The first feature in the public experimental testnet will be Flashblocks, which will reduce effective block times to 250 milliseconds, making transactions instantaneous. The Unichain validation network will also be launched on an experimental testnet and the community will be invited to run test validation nodes.
