Lido founder Konstantin Lomashuk shared an
However, Lomashuk clarified that no such entity has been created and that he will soon share his thoughts on the EF case.
This development comes after Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said the future of blockchain is decentralized and EF is only part of it in a January 21 post. He added:
“EF must not sit in the middle of the curve, it must confidently represent the aspects of Ethereum that it can represent effectively, and deliberately create and maintain open space for other organizations to represent the other aspects of Ethereum . Some of these other aspects arguably make even more sense in a for-profit format.
Additionally, Buterin answered calls for changes within the FE, including rejecting demands for Executive Director Aya Miyaguchi to resign following the foundation’s recent sale of ETH to cover expenses generated by promoting the ecosystem.
Critics have argued that options such as staking and reducing transaction amounts would have been more effective decisions.
Buterin also criticized social media pressure campaigns by the likes of CoinMamba, Tetranode, and Evan Van Ness, highlighting the harm they cause to Ethereum’s culture and talent retention.
Finally, although he acknowledged the need for personnel changes, Buterin did not signal any immediate changes. He also acknowledged that he is the one who makes the decision for EF’s leadership roles.
Community supports diversification
Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at VanEck, declared that there is no reason for EF to be the sole entity responsible for steering the future of Ethereum.
DeFi Maestro, promoter of the coat said that the creation of a “Second Foundation” takes the pressure on EF to “a whole new level”. Additionally, he recognized the possibility of another hard fork, similar to the event that generated the Ethereum Classic protocol.
Although he confirmed that he was not the founder of Second Foundation, Lomashuk received support from his peers to lead an entity focused on Ethereum.
Gabriel Shapiro, founder of MetaLeX Labs called the Lido founder “one of the most honest founders/investors in the industry” and long-time ETH holder. He added that a Lomashuk-backed entity driving the development of the Ethereum ecosystem would be “incredibly optimistic.”
José Maria Macedo, co-founder of Delphi Labs, REMARK that he doesn’t see a “more effective leader” for another Ethereum-focused foundation than Lomashuk. He added:
“If Vitalik is the prophet, Konstantin is the prince. A strategic thinker/visionary who deeply understands crypto and executes it relentlessly. He also constantly attracts world-class talent around him.
Meanwhile, Stani Kulechov, founder of Avara Labs, exhorted a “better, faster, stronger EF path with a narrow scope.” He said less attention should be paid to “internal politics or neutrality” and efforts should be directed toward technological progress as quickly as possible.
