Location, January 23, 2025 – Plan B, an initiative to support UPSC aspirants facing setbacks in their competitive exam journey, was announced by a team of senior UPSC aspirants and mentors. Inspired by the journey of Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon and Crypto Relief India Fund, this program is designed to equip aspirants with valuable skills for traditional employment.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is one of the most competitive exams in India, attracting a considerable number of candidates every year. Each year, between 1 million and 1.3 million candidates apply for a limited number of civil service positions. This fierce competition results in an extremely low selection rate, generally between 0.1% and 0.2%.
“We understand the dedication and sacrifices that UPSC aspirants make,” says Abhinav Pandey, a key member of the Plan B group, “but sometimes, despite years of rigorous preparation, the civil services dream may not come to fruition. We believe in the resilience of these individuals and want to offer them alternative paths to success.
Plan B will offer a comprehensive program covering a range of in-demand skills, including:
- Data analysis and programming: Python, R, SQL, basics of Machine Learning
- Digital Marketing and Social Media Management: Content creation, SEO, social media advertising
- Policy development and strategy: Research training, Thesis development, Policy analysis and evaluation
- Business development and entrepreneurship: Market research, business planning, entrepreneurship
- Communication and soft skills: Public speaking, presentation skills, negotiation, teamwork
To support this ambitious project, the team has set a goal of $300,000. With input from the global cryptocurrency community, the team plans to use Polygon Blockchain to ensure transparency in the allocation and use of funds.

“Just as Sandeep Nailwal used blockchain technology to address the critical challenges India faced during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Ranjan, “we believe crypto can be a powerful tool for social impact.” By raising funds on the Polygon channel, we ensure transparency and foster community ownership in this endeavor.
The funds raised will be used to:
- Develop and deliver high quality training programs.
- Provide mentoring and career guidance.
- Offer financial assistance to disadvantaged applicants.
- Build a strong community of support and collaboration.
“We are confident that Plan B will not only provide a valuable safety net for UPSC aspirants but will also contribute to the growth of skilled manpower in India,” Ranjan said. “We aim to empower the next generation of leaders and innovators through this initiative.”
