Bitwise’s director of investments, Matt Hougan, recently shared his reflections on the attraction of memecoins discoloration and how the cryptography market needs a new story.
In a conversation with the influencer of Crypto Scott Melker, Hougan discussed the detrimental impact of the recent involvement of the Lazarus hacking group in an attempted money laundering linked to the piracy of Bybit.
He stressed that the use of platforms like Pump.
Hougan thinks that this development could point out the end of the same enthusiasm. The association with illicit activities, such as money laundering, could remove investors from the sector.
The case of hacking of Lazarus and the involvement of the same as Melania and Balance can undermine the credibility of these assets, resulting in a decrease in their popularity.
With this change on the market, Hougan underlined the need for new stories to capture the interest of investors. He sees a potential in areas like decentralized finance (DEFI) and stabbed, although they have not yet aroused the same level of attention or excitement as the same.
While the same enthusiasm fades, Hougan suggests that the industry should rotate in these emerging areas to find a new momentum.
