Mining pool platform Binance has announced that it is now distributing rewards denominated in a memecoin created by Dogecoin (DOGE) creator Billy Markus.
Binance Pool announces that it has launched merged mining Bellscoin (BEL).
Mining platform users can now mine Litecoin and earn rewards in LTC, BEL or DOGE.
Markus created the Animal Crossing-inspired Bellscoin in 2013, eight days before Dogecoin launched, according to the project’s website. It was relaunched in 2023.
Explains the Bellscoin website,
“The Bells coin has no connection to Nintendo’s “Animal Crossing.” This piece simply pays homage to a meme that we all love and recognize. Bells is a meme coin with no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return. There is no formal team or roadmap. The piece is completely useless and is for entertainment purposes only.
Although it is offered as a mining reward, Bellscoin is currently not listed on Binance for trading.
BEL is trading at $0.903 at the time of writing. The crypto asset ranked 721st by market capitalization is down more than 5% in the last 24 hours.
