- HBO’s crypto documentary “Money Electric” claims to reveal the identity of Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
- Memecoins inspired by Len Sassaman have appeared on various cryptocurrency networks.
A new HBO documentary, “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” is set to solve the long-standing mystery of who Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin (BTC), really is.
Directed by the filmmaker known for revealing the identities behind QAnon, this documentary is expected to shed light on one of the biggest secrets of modern technology.
Many cryptocurrency fans and bettors on sites like Polymarket are now suggesting that Leonard “Len” Sassaman could be Nakamoto.
Premiering on October 8, the documentary aims to reignite discussions about theories surrounding Bitcoin’s creator that have been circulating since its creation in 2009.
Polymarket Odds Change
Nick Szabo also emerged as the top candidate for Satoshi Nakamoto on Polymarket in the upcoming HBO documentary.
Just a day ago, bettors gave Szabo a 27.9% chance of being Satoshi, surpassing cryptographer Len Sassaman, who was then at 14%, and Blockstream CEO Adam Back at 4.3%.

For those who don’t know, Sassaman was initially the favorite with odds as high as 68% shortly after the market opened on October 4th.
However, he saw a drop in support following producer Cullen Hoback’s remarks on CNN.
Sassaman is not Satoshi?
Hoback revealed that he confronted someone he believed to be the real Satoshi, effectively excluding Sassaman, who died in 2011.
“We make a strong case…and I think their reaction is, in some ways, more telling than the evidence itself.”
Adding to the uncertainty, Sassaman’s widow, Meredith L. Patterson, publicly stated that her late husband was not Satoshi and noted that HBO did not contact her during production of the documentary.
Patterson said:
“I kind of wonder if I’m okay with prediction markets answering honestly when people ask me questions, but long story short, f**k em.”
However, according to Polymarket’s latest updates, Nick Szabo was at 10.3% at press time, and Adam Back was close behind at 9.6%.
Surprisingly, despite the emerging reality, Len Sassaman still retained the lead with 12% of the stakes.

Memecoin sector benefits from hype
Despite the ongoing drama surrounding who created Bitcoin, some traders have found opportunities to profit from thematic tokens.
In recent days, memecoins inspired by cryptographer Len Sassaman – who many believe could be revealed as Satoshi Nakamoto in an upcoming HBO documentary – have started appearing on the Solana (SOL), Ethereum (ETH) and BTC networks .
Opportunistic traders issued LEN tokens on these platforms, reaching market capitalizations in the millions before subsequently losing some of these gains.
An LEN token, which claims to be the first issued on SOL, saw a notable price increase last week, currently valued at over $1.6 million.
Additionally, SASHA tokens, named after Sassaman’s cat, have reached market capitalizations above $5 million.

Crypto enthusiasts even contacted Sassaman’s widow, Meredith L. Patterson, via X (formerly Twitter) for advice on these memecoins, receiving a Solana address for token donations in return.

Interestingly, some traders have created tokens based on Sassaman’s pets, including his cat Sasha, while others suggest that another cat, ODIN, was Sassaman’s first.
