Friends,
It was an exciting week! We launched our first wave of ticket sales and sold in just 18 minutes! Do not worry, however, there will be more ticketing waves in addition to various discounts and scholarships that you can always apply. Transparency and clear communication are things for which the Devcon team is trying, so we wanted to share part of our reflection behind allowances and sales of Devcon4 tickets in the hope of answering questions and answering comments that we have received from the community.
Ticket distribution and income allocation
First of all: more than two thirds of Devcon4 tickets are updated or free, and intended for manufacturers and students from other groups. The remaining third party of tickets is sold through a series of “waves” at the same price per ticket as the two previous Devcon events – this covers the cost of the conference and operations at the Ethereum Foundation. This allows us in turn to use our financial resources to restore the community by funding the basic development and by offering ecosystem subsidies. In addition, the revenues of the sponsorships of community leaders allow us to sell the majority of tickets at reduced prices and to offer scholarships.
Waves
Waves are the means for anyone to buy a general admission ticket. We were space the wave calendar so that we can apply the lessons we learn on future waves (for example, we learned a delaying ticket receipts by being sent to people who paid with a crypto -Mood during the first wave!)
Support manufacturers
We want to make ourselves as easy as possible for people who build decentralized applications and Ethereum protocols to attend Devcon4. Although the majority of the programming and content are deeply technical, we invite independent manufacturers working in small organizations of all kinds to ask Generator discounts: developers, designers, researchers, community organizers and even artists. Without all of you, what would even be Ethereum?
Diversity and inclusion
For the Ethereum community to have a positive social impact, people who build this ecosystem must reflect the beautiful diversity of human experience. We offer scholarships to ensure that Devcon becomes more diverse, accessible and fair than ever. Request a scholarship If you need additional financial support to return it to Devcon4 and
- come from a developing country
- Identify an under-represented population (race, sex, sexuality etc …) in the Ethereum ecosystem
- come from a university and / or research institution
We work hard to examine and respond to the 1,000 requests for discounts and scholarships that we have received so far. Keep them to come.
Future!
You will soon hear more from us to come for future waves, as well as speaker and session applications.
I hope it helps to shed light on how we manage the tickets for Devcon4. Finally, we are always open to your ideas and comments to improve this process.
