The member of the Pro-Bitcoin Congress, Byron Donalds, announced his candidacy for the post of governor of Florida during an appearance in Hannity de Fox News. The republican legislator, currently representing the 19th district of the Florida Congress, underlined his vision of making the state of Sunshine a global financial center, potentially incorporating cryptocurrency into the official portfolio of the State.
The future governor of Florida wants Bitcoin
Donalds noted its multifaceted platform, describing strategies to reduce Florida’s insurance costs, strengthen environmental protections and strengthen state educational standards. In remarks reflecting the growing institutional interest for digital assets, it specifically highlighted the role of the crypto:
“I want to transform Florida into a world financial center. Digital active ingredients have made a house in southern Florida. I want to make sure that we become the most friendly state in our country so that companies can integrate into our state. But then, so that the state takes the lead on cryptocurrency and digital assets. I would even consider that the crypto is part of the state financial portfolio. »»
The announcement of the Congress member’s campaign also aroused the support of former President Donald Trump, who openly congratulated Donalds and greeted his entry into the race for the governor. Donalds was a faithful ally of Trump on the campaign track, further strengthening his references within the conservative wing of the Republican Party.
Shortly after Donalds’ announcement, Dennis Porter – The player and CEO of Satoshi Action Fund – brought to X to highlight the importance of the Congress declarations. The advocacy group to wear played a decisive role in promoting Bitcoin legislation, in particular the introduction of Bitcoin Reserve Strated Law (SBR) in several American states.
“The member of the Congress byron Donalds declares an offer for the governor of Florida and the states he wants the digital assets to be part of the` `financial portfolio ” ” ‘Accent on Donalds on the BTC in particular: “The next possible governor of Florida is ready to add bitcoin to the balance sheet. »»
This conversation also sparked an answer from the user of X Jimmy Kostro, who noted: “He said Crypto in this video.” Porter replied: “Bitcoin is a crypto”, but then explained its reason to distinguish the BTC from other digital currencies: “Bitcoin is unique and stands alone. There is no 2nd best. But to say that it is not a crypto is like saying that gold is not a metal. (…) I prefer that people say: “Bitcoin is different from all other cryptocurrencies” that “bitcoin is not a cryptocurrency”. But I also understand why people say the latter because it is important to differentiate themselves. »»
Donalds’ remarks arrive in the middle of growing interest in the BTC through the state. Florida legislators are currently examining the legislation (SB 550) which would officially establish an SBR, allowing the State Director to invest up to 10% of Florida funds in Bitcoin. The sponsor of the bill is none other than Senator Joe Gruuters who is also treasurer of the National Republican Committee (RNC) and has acquired the reputation of defending Pro-BTC initiatives.
At the time of the press, BTC exchanged $ 89,078.
