On a warm and sunny Wednesday evening in Switzerland, an account X belonging to a blockchain network called NEAR Protocol unexpectedly changed its display name to “this is all a lie.” A series of posts quickly followed, calling cryptocurrencies “scams” and asking readers to “delete their blockchains because the house of cards is collapsing.”
