It was a strange year for the cryptography market. Wasn’t it supposed to be the year when the best cryptocurrencies in the world have skyrocketed in value, fueled by all the Pro-Crypto optimism surrounding the Trump administration? Instead, only a handful of the 20 best cryptocurrencies (as classified by market capitalization) are in fact underway for the year.
Two that stand out particularly are Xrp (XRP 0.15%)) And Litecoin (LTC -1.69%)). XRP increased by 24% for the year, while Litecoin increased by 20% for the year. For comparison, Bitcoin only increased by 2% for the year. It is an anomaly, since Bitcoin historically leads the market higher. So, how long can XRP and Litecoin maintain their momentum?
Xrp
Let’s start with XRP, which stands out as the clear winner on the cryptography market at the moment. It is the most effective high capitalization crypto of 2025. And, in the last three months, it has increased by 400%.
There is a good reason for this spectacular performance, and that has to do with the pro-Crypto and pro-company approach to the Trump administration. Keep in mind: Ripple, the company behind the Crypto XRP token, has faced regulatory questions about XRP status for more than four years now. A case of the Court of the Commission of Securities and the Committee of Exchanges filed against Ripple has been underway since December 2020.
Thought here is therefore that all these regulatory headaches will disappear in 2025. Paul Atkins, the new Pro-Crypto chief of the dry, could end the case once and for all. And a new regulatory framework for Crypto will allow Ripple to return more easily as usual. All this augurs well, of course, for XRP, which is the crypto token fueling payment operations based on the Ripple blockchain.

XRP also has a second major catalyst. This is the planned approval of the XRP ETF in the middle of 2025. After the spectacular success of the Bitcoin Spot ETF in 2024, it is easy to see why there is so much optimism on the market right now.
You could say that the arrival of new Bitcoin ETFs was the main reason why Bitcoin has more than doubled in prices last year. The XRP bulls therefore clearly hope that XRP also has the potential to double the price.
Regarding the possibility of maintaining its market momentum after 2025, XRP seems to be in good position. It would be good to see some more positive signals from the Trump administration concerning Ripple and XRP, of course. But it seems that the regulatory channels are finally detached this year, and this could send the value of XRP for at least the next 12 months.
Litecoin
Like XRP, Litecoin is sent above by anticipation surrounding the potential approvals of the ETF. Currently, Bloomberg analysts think that Litecoin is 90% chance of obtaining the approval of the dry. Consequently, Litecoin could become the first cryptocurrency to obtain a new ETF Spot in 2025.
This is the good news. The bad news is that it is not clear how much there is a request for an ETF Litecoin. If you take a look at a graphic comparing Bitcoin and Litecoin’s performance in the past two years, you will understand why. During this period, Bitcoin increased by 363%, while Litecoin only increased by 51%.

And this was generally the story of Litecoin for a large part of its history of almost 15 years. Litecoin has historically underperformed Bitcoin, and this is what makes the current period of outperformance such anomaly. Litecoin is currently making circles around Bitcoin and, if history is a guide, it should not happen.
So, from my point of view, Litecoin will find it difficult to maintain his momentum after 2025. Of course, he could obtain a bump price before the new ETF spots are approved, but this is likely to be short -lived, Given the little of the demand could be there for these ETFs.
What happens to the cryptography market in 2025?
Bitcoin is currently struggling to return above the $ 100,000 mark, and many of the most precious cryptocurrencies in the world are in red. Ethereum is down 20%, just like many other layer 1 blockchain networks used to fuel the blockchain economy.
In this context, it is easy to see why investors flock to XRP and Litecoin. They are roughly the only big cryptocurrencies with any momentum behind them at the moment, and they will probably continue to climb. The two are clear beneficiaries of the buzz and speculation surrounding the new ETF Crypto.
But simply keep your expectations in check: once Bitcoin has recovered his mojo, XRP and Litecoin can lose part of their call. In the long term, none of these two cryptos can follow a flambo bitcoin.
