We have worked hard to get to know so many incredible people and projects, and we are extremely delighted to announce the recipients of Vague III of the Ethereum Foundation Greases program!
We launched 2018 with a blog To galvanize the research on scalables for first and second layer solutions. Since then, we have initiated more than $ 11 million to 52 projects dedicated to advancing Ethereum ecosystem. The subsidies have funded several implementations of plasma and state channels, various research on customers, improved developer executives, safety audits and much more (find them in previous items: Wave I & Wave II))!
An overview of the selection process
Since the subsidy program resumed, we have received comments asking for greater transparency in our processes and a more in -depth examination of the different types of projects considered. Here is an snapshot of funding and an update of the subsidy process:
Instant funding
The EF grant program has provided more than $ 11 million in support of 52 projects since early 2018 (Waves I, II and III).
Our financing allowance remains faithful to the initial objective of the program, attributing almost 2M, #BUIDL projects (projects that improve the user experience) received 744K. Although the dollar allowance remains strongly focused on scalability, the number of projects funded is distributed more uniformly between the categories.
Updating of the grant process
The EF grant program is constantly evolving. With this tour, we have refined our internal processes to ensure the timely disbursement of funds. We understand how quickly space moves and believes in the importance of the dispersion of experienced funds at the front line. Finally, we aim to allocate subsidies on a hilly basis in order to provide more immediate support to projects and teams leading the decentralization and transparency burden.
Ideal candidates are delivered with solid technical knowledge, to project the roadmap and show a commitment to promote collaboration within the ecosystem. For more information on the expectations of candidates and the workflow of the processes, please consult our Candidates expectations and FAQ.
Wave III
Each turn, the subsidy program is evolving. Our goal is to effectively grease the wheels for projects that build the critical infrastructure of our young community. There are a lot of avenues to establish before Ethereum “the fact” and it was incredible to see all the projects working to have these tracks.
The pool of candidates for Wave III offered a record number of solid teams and innovative ideas. It is fascinating and humiliating to see the diversity of projects around the world with a common interest in promoting the development of Ethereum. These are people who spend their free time reading Ethresear.chDevelop new libraries and portfolio conceptions, and engage in communities discussing the latest people of DAPP usability and safety … and we love them for this.
Without further ado …
🎉 We are proud to announce our Wave III finalists! 🎉

The scalability will continue to be at the center of EF subsidies, but we also seek to finance other critical work. This includes a better UX, new customers, high -level languages, better developer tools and efforts to make Ethereum applications more secure. With Wave III, we have developed in education and community efforts to help bring new talents to the ecosystem.

Bonus: Grant Ops competition!
With the growing number of candidates, we will need to create an official website for the subsidy program. Do you have ideas about how to make the website fun, transparent and useful to future subsidy candidates? (Mmhmm) great! Because we will manage a competition and crowdsourcing ideas for all of you. The selected ideas will receive a love of unicorn and a little eth. Stay listening for more details on how to participate!
